The Challenge
Chameleon Smart Home tackles the challenge of complex and fragmented smart home systems. By offering a unified platform with intuitive controls, Chameleon enables users to effortlessly customize and automate their smart home experience.
As a UX designer, I appreciate the challenge of simplifying complex and fragmented smart home systems. That's why I was drawn to the transformative potential of Chameleon Smart Home.
The Project
Smart Homes used to be a luxury, but in the current economy, they can be the cure for overconsumption. At Chameleon, I was tasked with designing a friendly but versatile user interface for tablets, phones and Desktops that could control every aspect of an efficient, interconnected Home that features diverse devices like water leakage sensors, weather sensors, thermostats, sound systems, and shutters.

The Home Screen
Since you have a smart home and your phone is your remote, you can turn on or off, set rules and automations, open, close, dim, check, control and order anything from this one device. This interface was challenging to design, since it needed to be usable with ease in any situation
Multiroom Audio
is a feature, which enables the smart home's residents to connect all of their speakers seamlessly and stream their favorite music in a 'follow me' mode that uses human presence detection.
UpHome
But what if you want to live in a smart apartment complex instead of a smart home? Well, that's exactly why I designed the interface for Chameleon's canadian division, UpHome Solutions.
UpHome Booking
By a simple swipe from the home screen, every apartment building resident gets to enjoy a variety of new features tailored for smart apartments. Features like: Activity Booking, Message Board, Joint Payment System, etc.
Cloud Solution
Have multiple smart homes? Afraid that power outages, internet outages could break your precious presets? Don't worry, Chameleon smart homes have cloud sync and save functionality built in.
Weather Sensor
Of course, since the weather can be unpredictable, the system is equipped with various weather sensors, which can also control the home through automations. My job was to create an interface for this functionality that is easy to understand at a glance and highly customisable.
Results and Impact
Our main challenge was to build an all-in-one Smart Home management and integration tool that was easy to use and effective. This massive project was a complex and required thorough understanding of the electrical systems and users of these homes and future ones. However, I enjoy taking on challenges, and through dedication and hard work, I was able to successfully design the app that achieved these results.
